Friday again! I truly think someone took days out of this week… I’m not convinced the days should really move this quickly but I suppose that’s yet another reason to be thankful for each and every day and make the best of them all… even when springtime is playing hide and seek!
So, joining with But Why Mummy Why? and the #littleloves crew, here is some of what we got up to this week that caused it to move so quickly:
I’ve been enjoying some lovely blogs this week, especially Clarina’s Contemplations. I’ve loved reading of how she has been bringing the history of VE day alive with her little people and how much her eldest little one has engaged with it all – beautiful! Little Miss M is still loving some of her little books and it amazes me how even a tiny person learns quickly how to find a flap, remove a jigsaw book piece, stroke a touch and feel farm animal that makes noises or recognise rhyme patterns and actions! These have been favourites for a while and I don’t see that changing any time soon. Needless to say, these examples of Infant Literature (have I just created a new genre?) have composed the main bulk of my reading time this week.
Oh boy has this been a week for watching… the new Annie on DVD… I loooved it – though didn’t think it benefitted from the reassignment of the traditional ‘Oh my goodness’. I wasn’t totally convinced by the new songs but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the up-beatness of it and the occasional nod to the original (Mr LGT is a bit of an original fan and is totally disgusted with me… give him time!!) Benefitting from some surprise holidays (believe me, that’s a whole other story) and the election enforced holiday yesterday, we went to see Cinderella… oh so good and I’ve given it a bit of a review here if you missed it yesterday evening. Not to forget the coverage of the new Royal baby and the election… the election I told someone the other day would have a Conservative majority – oh how I wished I’d written it here as proof that my yelling ‘I said that!’ at the tv every time someone said, ‘No-one saw this result coming.’ Ah hindsight, what a teacher you are!
By means of redressing the Cinderella girly overdose, the Frozen soundtrack was sacrificed to ‘let daddy listen to his choice’ and so, we fell on our feminine swords and endured/listened to Noel Gallagher’s HIgh Flying Birds album… buy the vinyl record and get the CD free… the gift that keeps on giving!! We also got a bit nostalgic, listening to Steve Curtis Chapman – ‘I Will Be Here’ was sung at our wedding and ‘I will be true to the promise I have made, to you and to the One who gave you to me’ still gets me… sigh!
Well, I made short work of the kind gift that was a box of gorgeous Black Magic chocolates…hmmm, a tad tenuous (and more than a tad greedy but by they were yummy!) I’ve also been making more preparations for the expansion of Little Green Tree and a display we are doing in June… more about that at a later date! Visitors at the weekend gave us the perfect opportunity to try out the microwave brownies again… definitely worth giving these bad boys a go, though I adjust to 3 eggs… and loads of ice-cream to serve ;o)
I’m still trying to stick to my ‘more colour’ mantra and I’m absolutle loving Giorgio Armani Si… it’s my new ‘special occasion’ perfume of choice!
The bank holiday gave us the opportunity to catch up with friends for an annual picnic – an opportunity to celebrate the blessing of good friends, even if we don’t get to see each other as often as we’d like, and a chance to marvel at the changes in the little people in our lives… still on the hunt for that elusive time-slow potion!
So, late as usual, those are my #littleloves this week. Hope you are somewhere warm and dry this evening and have a lovely weekend, wherever you are and whatever the weather!
